Pattern EYE
I created this pattern and then drew an eye pertaining to the pattern, my interpretation is the eye can be a man, the black eye lid can be the hat and the tear duct of the eye can be interpreted as the nose. The colors I chose are vibrant because this eye has two meanings, it is multi-faceted and exciting. Hopefully it is fun for you to look at. I think it is funny.

subtractive eye redone
Now that I have learned more about Illustrator, I decide to re-do the assignment from last week to make them look better, I will continue to practice and illustrate more eyes. The top eye has lines under it making it appear older than the eye on the bottom. I also tried to make this eye look like it is floating in water, using marine colors helped fool the viewer in this process. How many of you thought of a fish? or not?
NEW EYES-as I am figuring out Illustrator
While Illustrating the three eyes here I decided to play with color--interchanging the fill and outline colors--the bottom eye looks like a simplified cigar while the other two eyes are meant to represent fish or marine life. This process is getting fun for me so hopefully I will get the hang of more technical drawings soon.

Eye #3
For this simple Illustration I re-used the vector line art idea from the "essence of the eye" drawing. I put it in a different stroke, the paint brush, to see the effect it would make. The image on the top is done with the paintbrush while the image on the bottom is a copy of the "essence of the eye" from a previous post.
Eyes #1 & 2: the additive and subtractive processes
I drew an eye in Illustrator then ADDED--the additive process--one simple line to it to see the impact it would make on the design. The ADDED line is in blue. The image in green at the top is REMOVING--the subtractive process--a line, the eye lid line. As you can see, I am very new at this, but I am determined and getting there!

Post #1: My Intro
My name is Courtney A. Radcliffe, I am 3 months shy of 30 and 8 months shy of graduation. I am slated to embark on the adventures of student teaching in the Fall of 2010--if I get my way--I cannot wait to teach students how to explore their creative side and see the world through a new set of lenses. I am incredibly passionate about education in general, I think anyone who wants to learn, should. One of my favorite inspirational quotes is :" If I can, I should!" To create a statement discussing the world of art and the importance of keeping art education in schools, this blog was created. I invite feedback, lesson plan ideas, daily efforts, stories of students in your art class, and any type of discussion involving art techniques, educational efforts in the arts and your personal view on how important it is to maintain a creative education for our future generations.
